I'm 34, an employee of an engineering software firm in Boston. (Yes, living in downtown Boston and being a Yankees fan is great). I'm a fan of other sports, but baseball is the greatest game ever invented, bar none. I was born in Michigan and spent most of my childhood there.

Except for 5 critical years. In 1976 my parents moved from suburban Detroit to NYC. from age 5 to 10 I was immersed in the sights and sounds of Manhattan...Ed Koch's NY was the most fantastic amusement park ever created for a 5 year old...getting kicked out of the Met for climbing on the temple of Dendur...stuff like that. From '76-'80 my father took me to several games at the stadium, he's from CT and a giant Yankees fan. Those 5 years made me a Yankees fan for life.

I am not a sabermetrics expert nor will my posts focus on stats analysis, but I believe that SABR has given the average fan the ability to verify or reject "conventional wisdom." The revolution of "Moneyball" et al has contributed greatly to my enjoyment of the game.

We're all here for baseball, but I enjoy my job tremendously. My personal interests range from Beethoven to the American Civil War, Ancient Rome and jazz. I also enjoy golf, movies, working out and wearing a Yankees hat in Boston. I also firmly believe that Roger Maris is still the single season home run record holder.

Most importantly: #27 in 2007!
