Aaron Boone, who is well known for hitting probably the most famous home run in the remodeled version of the old Yankee Stadium, has announced he will need open heart surgery in order to battle a condition that he's known about since college. According to Boone, doctors have told him he may resume playing after he recovers from surgery, but he is not sure whether he will or not.

Aside from winning the 2003 A.L. pennant with a walk-off home run in the 11th inning against the Red Sox, Boone suffered a freak injury in the ensuing offseason, facilitating the trade that started the A-Rod saga in New York.

Our best wishes go out to Boone and his family. Hopefully it all goes well.
