12/22: Dominican Paper Reports That Manny and Yankees Close to a Deal; Cashman Denies
Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com highlighted a report from
Impacto Deportivo, a Dominican newspaper, which indicated that the Yankees and Manny Ramirez were close on a 3 year deal worth $75 million dollars.
Cashman
denied the report and the paper
persisted.
Dierkes notes that the paper has a decent, though not spotless, record of MLB related scoops, so you never know. But, at this time, I'll take it as an unreliable report.
