Manny's RBI numbers have been awesome his whole career, whether it's been
in Cleveland, in Boston, with Fati in front of him or not. Pujols has had
great RBI numbers since the day he arrived, regardless of where he hit in
the lineup.

Look at Miggy Cabrera, he's got 89 RBI in 124 G this year, and last year
he had 88 RBI in his first 124 G

In general, baseball players with a long history of success have a high probability to return to that level of success after a relatively unsuccessful year.

The above generally holds true even if a media onslaught attempts to draw our focus away from the larger picture.

I agree that a player can have a down year. I hope that this isn't a down year for arod. I was making the point that to compare Musial's '52 to arod's '06 isn't a fair comparison when judged against the rest of the league. I don't think they should trade him, but I'm not too happy that he's already set career highs(or on pace to) in GIDP, K's and errors. I'm not too happy that he's batting .209 late and close. I don't boo him at games, I'd love it if he carried the team to a championship. Musial won 3 championships before the 52 season. I hope arod wins at least 3 with the yankees. All that aside, is it fair to call out arod for his struggles this year? I say yes. But I still won't boo him at games or say he should be traded.

I think any player should be held responsible anytime they don't perform up to a reasonable level of expectations. But overall, A-Rod's value to the Yankees has been greatly undermined this season. Without Matsui and Sheffield, and without Cano as well for over a month, can you imagine where the Yankees would be if we replaced him with Nick Green everyday, with all due respect to Green?
